LOCKDOWN SERIES

March of 2020 when COVID 19 first hit British Columbia went on a complete lockdown.
This meant no work, online learning and a lot of fear of the unknown. To keep busy Ali Roddam was inspired by the Getty Museum Challenge.  Ali headed in to her studio to grab some minimal equipment.
With the brief of recreating images from items found around the house, Ali, Dylan and Mikayla Roddam ran with this challenge. Instead of just famous works of art, they decided to recreate pop culture icons. Mikayla helping to create the props and Dylan modeling in the images.

At first glance the costumes look to be professional, but on closer inspection you can see items such as a marshmallow for an earring, a lighter made of an eraser and tinfoil, and a pillow used for Janis Joplins hat. As the months went on, an image was aalmost every day, The Roddam's started to receive more and more message from viewers all over the globe that these images are what they looked forward to on a daily bases, that amongst all the chaos of the pandemic this put a smile on their face. Dylan's photos were featured all over the news in Canada and the USA. As the restrictions lifted and life started to go back to normal Dylan decided she was done for now, but these images are truly a shinning light in the cloud of uncertain times.
